To the family of Don Tucker I have known Don for a very long time. Dealing with him as a sales rep. The times were great and he was a very smart man. He only lived 2 miles from me and when I had an extra UNH Hockey ticket I would invite him to come with me and my family we always had fun with him at the games never a dull moment.  He will be missed by all.

Kandy, Karen, Jonathan and family, I am so saddened to hear of your great loss, my prayers are with you all.  Don was my mentor, dear friend and l cherish the many memories of long conversations, road trips and just great fun we had working together.  I have a few mementos from our years of working together, in fact the other day I pulled out a little measurement chart he made years ago on leather thicknesses.  I am reminded of a poem I wrote for his 60th birthday called "Ode to an Old Leather Man", he certainly never seemed old, in fact he was a pretty cool dude (except when he wore socks in his Keens) but, his stories... they were a bit long in the tooth, and he didn't mind you telling him so!  He was a wealth of knowledge and I am grateful for the opportunities I had to learn from him.   I didn't speak with Don as much in the last while, but his words, his laughter and kindnesses are impressed upon my heart!  I will miss him so!

Whoever chose the photo on this page chose the perfect one that conveys all that Don was.  We walked dogs alongside Don at the Stratham, New Hampshire SPCA for many years.  We quickly noticed that Don was excellent with the dogs -- he always chose the toughest, biggest ones to take outside.  We also noticed quickly that he was a fine person.  We talked daily of his long-distance running, kayaking, and his dancing.  How could a man that seemed tough, love ballroom dancing so much!  We never saw Don without a smile.  We never ever heard Don complain about his long illness; he just raved about what great doctors he met at the hospitals!  He loved the trip years ago that he took with his baseball-playing grandson; he said that his grandson had loved that weeklong trip with his grandfather.  No wonder -- Don was great to be with for people of all ages.  Our dog-walking group of 7 people ate breakfast out every day after we survived our time at the SPCA.  Don always joined the group, and it was never the same if he was missing.  He even delivered a huge doghouse my wife bought at an annual SPCA event -- delivered it so easily as he drove his tractor off the truck he drove, then somehow got the tractor to do miracles and lift it over our 4-foot fence.  I watched it, and there was no way it could be done, yet he did it as he laughed.  Such things came so easily to Don, like building things, cutting logs, and hugging his dog and many others.  It is such a comfort in life to know that we were lucky enough to know Don.  We are smart enough to know that Don Tuckers are not replaceable.  How nice to know a real gift to the world.  We are sad for Kandy and Don's family and especially for his baseball-star grandson.
