Virginia M. (Sweeney) Hardy, 95, of Rowley, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, in the Seaview Retreat surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Elwood C. Hardy with whom she shared sixty-three years of marriage.
She was born on June 22, 1923 in Salem and was the daughter of the late Charles and Rhoda (McDonald) Sweeney. Ginny was a graduate of Topsfield High School. She was employed as a Tester for several years at CBS Hytron in Newburyport.
Ginny enjoyed crafts, quilting, dancing and teaching ceramics. She was a fine artist and especially liked Bunka a Japanese form of needlepoint. Ginny received a first place ribbon at the Topsfield Fair in 2007.
She is survived by her two sons, James L. Hardy and David W. Hardy and his wife, Mary all of Rowley; one daughter, Linda B. Baymler of Rowley; eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Genevieve Hardy also of Rowley. Ginny was predeceased by her son Charles E. Hardy.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the F.S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. A Funeral Service will follow immediately at noon. Burial will be in Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
