Susan V. Hawkesworth

Susan V. (Perley) Hawkesworth of Rowley passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021, surrounded by her family.  She was the wife of the late William L. Hawkesworth III, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage.  

She was born in Ipswich on January 19, 1942, daughter of the late Robert F. Perley Sr. and Marion V. Williams.  

Susan attended the Rowley Public Schools and graduated from Newburyport High School.  

Susan was a school bus driver for over 30 years for the Triton Regional School District and many knew her as “Giggles.”  Her laugh accompanied her lightheartedness and bubbly personality.  She also was a cashier at the Agawam Diner for many years and truly enjoyed her time socializing with the Rowley natives. 

Susan enjoyed camping with her family over the years.  She also enjoyed gardening, auto racing, and her animals.  Susan loved spending time with her daughters and granddaughters.  She was the proudest grandmother “Mim” – watching her granddaughters every day, buckling them in car seats on the school bus, lunch at the Diner, trips to Kingston Lake, and sharing in all their life events.  

Susan is survived by her two daughters, Lisa Hawkesworth and her companion Charles Rousseau of Newbury and Christine and her husband Daniel Marshall of Salisbury; her brothers Robert F. Perley Jr. and David Perley of Rowley.  She also leaves her twin granddaughters Courtney and her husband Kyle Krigest of Georgetown and Caitlyn Marshall of Merrimac; as well as several nieces and nephews, and her loving pets Spencer and Buzzy.  In addition to her late husband William L. Hawkesworth, Susan is predeceased by her brother Glen R. Perley. 

Funeral service and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Merrimack River Feline Rescue Society, 63 Elm Street, Salisbury.
