Sally Robinson Obituary

Sally K. Robinson passed away at High Pointe House, Merrimack Valley Hospice on Friday, January 7, 2022.

She was born on December 5, 1931 to the late Maybelle (Escott) Keach and Everett Thompson Keach in Milford, MA, and grew up in Massachusetts and Maine, where she graduated from the University of Maine, Orono with a degree in Romance languages.

Sally was an avid reader, adventurer, and horsewoman—she ran away from home on a pony at the tender age of four—and devoted herself to those passions all her life. After graduating from the University, she married Donald G. Robinson, Jr., a graduate of Annapolis Naval Academy, and drove with him to Mexico City, where he was stationed at the American Embassy. Sally continued supporting her husband and country by moving to new homes every few years as her husband received new Navy assignments and their family grew. When her husband retired from the Navy, he started his own business in West Brookfield, Massachusetts, as the world's largest supplier of gerbils. Meanwhile, Sally built a horse farm from the ground up, where she taught riding lessons, boarded horses for others, and bred Arabians. She never stopped learning new skills, like ballet and painting, during her rare free hours. Sally eventually pursued a career in real estate and owned homes in Florida and South Carolina before settling in Rowley, Massachusetts. Retirement brought new pleasures, like cheering on the Patriots (Tom Brady could do no wrong), watercolor classes, and wildly competitive Mah-jongg games with her friends both in person and online. She kept her mind sharp with books and crossword puzzles and continued expressing her love of animals by rescuing two beloved Chihuahuas, Titus and Bella.

Sally is survived by her children, Holly Robinson and her husband Daniel S. Cookson of Rowley; Donald G. Robinson III and his wife Jeannie Robinson of Thatcham, England; and Philip K. Robinson and his partner Svetla Borovska of Ithaca, NY. In addition to Sally's children, she is also survived by her grandchildren, Emily Robinson, Jillian Robinson, Blaise Lucey, Taylor Lucey, Aidan Cookson, Andrew Cookson, Maya Cookson, and Ian Robinson.
