Obituary

Robert E. Henderson, Jr., 58, of Salem, MA, formerly of Gloucester, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

Rob, as he liked to be called, graduated from Manchester High School, Manchester, MA. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and became a Seabee. His tour of duty included time in Italy, Japan, Puerto Rico, and Mississippi.   Rob was so proud to serve his Country.

He grew up in Hamilton, MA, on Black Brook Farm.  In his early years, he joined the Whittier 4-H Cattle Club and enjoyed showing cattle and entered his vegetables at Topsfield Fair.  As a teen he and his brother, Tim, loved to go lobstering and fishing.  He enjoyed working with wood and became an accomplished finished carpenter.

Before his passing, Rob was employed by Neville Ross Builders in Gloucester, MA.

Rob was always ready to help family and friends.  He took pride in all he achieved.  He loved the outdoors, whether walking with his dog or in a field, or being in the mountains or at the ocean.  He had a respect and love of all nature. Rob was an avid reader and a great cook. He was also an avid cyclist and participated in the Pan Mass Challenge. He attended Spa Tech in Ipswich, MA, after which he became a massage therapist.  He possessed integrity and stood for truth.  He never waivered from what was right.

Rob leaves behind his love, Donna Therrien of Salem, MA; his parents, Robert and Louise Henderson of Waldoboro, ME, a sister, Linda Henderson, of Haverhill, MA; a brother, Timothy Henderson and his wife, Pauline of New Sharon, ME; three nephews, Tim Henderson, Jr., Tom Henderson and Paul Gorman; one niece, Danielle Henderson; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.  Rob also leaves behind many friends who will miss his humorous nature and his loving smile.  A friend to many.
