Richard Lockhart Obituary

Richard W. Lockhart, 80, of Summer Street, Rowley, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He was the husband of Aurore D. (Chapman) Lockhart and the late Linda M. (Roberts) Lockhart.

He was born on November 19, 1940 in Malden, Massachusetts, son of Virginia Thibodeau. He grew up in Danvers and in 1976 laid his permanent roots in Rowley, where he raised his family, opened a successful business, and contributed to his community by serving on the Rowley planning board during the 80’s and 90’s.

Dick was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Korean War. He was an excellent auto mechanic and owner of Lockhart’s Auto in Rowley. He was a member of the Newbury-Rowley Lions Club for many years.

Dick enjoyed anything with wheels and a motor, especially supermodified race cars. Dick enjoyed fishing with his buddies and was always ready with a “good” joke or to help out a friend with car troubles. Those close to Dick would agree he always made sure you had a safe car to drive and a warm coat to wear.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Tammy Lamson and her husband, Scott of Raymond, ME, Gayle Pollard of Seabrook, NH, Paul Lockhart and his wife, Tammy of Topsfield, MA, Amy Mead and her husband, Travis of Juneau, AK, and Jodi Scolamiero and her husband, David of Rowley, MA. Dick is also survived by his brother, Phillip Lockhart, AKA Tiny and his wife, Nancy of Clearwater, FL; his sister Kathy, AKA Pudgie Iovanne and her husband, Rick of Beverly, MA; as well as 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nieces, and a nephew.  Dick will be missed by many friends, family, and neighbors.
