Rev. Walter R. Poole Jr.

     On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, Walter R. Poole Jr., passed away peacefully at the age of 88. 

     Walter was born in Newburyport, MA on January 14, 1931 to Walter R. Poole Sr., and Ida L. (Rand) Poole.

     After his retirement s Pastor of The First Baptist Church in Rowley, MA, he lived in North Berwick, ME.  During his career he started Baptist Churches in New Boston, New Hampshire and Auburn, ME.

    Walter was very involved in the Churches around the country. He also served as Chaplain on the Rowley Fire Department for many years.

    He enjoyed wood working and after his retirement, making gifts for his kids and grandchildren. He was also very proud of his large gardens and enjoyed bird watching.

    Walter is survived by his wife Gretchen Poole of North Berwick, ME and his first wife pre-deceased Phyllis Poole. His 6 children: David and Susan Poole of Dover, NH, James and Dorothy Poole of Lebanon, ME, Jeanne and Tom Briggs of Springvale, ME , Richard and Kathleen Poole of Weare, NH, Kenneth and Cathy Poole of Deerfield, NH and Alice and Bryan Rezucha of Northfield, NH. Walter also had 13 Grandchildren and 13 Great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

    The family wishes to acknowledge all the caregivers of the Greenwood Nursing Home and Compassus Hospice, who devoted their time and love to making Walter as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for donations be made to your local Church or to the Parkinsons Foundation.
