Peter Story (59) of Newbury, MA passed away unexpectedly at his home on Monday, July 12, 2021. He was born in Newburyport, MA on March 27, 1962; son of Joseph Story and Marie Story (Hamilton). Growing up working on the family farm, High Road Farm, Peter had a special appreciation of nature and the outdoors. He was particularly fond of animals, both domestic and wild. Before he headed into work, he'd often bring his daughter, Galaxie, to Quills Pond to check out the local fauna, the same pond he had played hockey on from sunrise to sunset with his friends as a kid. His enthusiasm for animals only caused one known hospitalization after an attempt to coax a feral kitten out from hiding and one near incident involving Galaxie and a (small) snapping turtle.
In addition to working at the family farm, Peter also ran his own landscaping company, went clamming, and worked for United Airlines. He enjoyed travel and had an infectious curiosity about the world. His travels took him all over the globe, including one trip to Spain where he learned that high school Spanish doesn't always come right back to you. Nonetheless, he had no problem making friends and exploring the country as his kindness and ability to make people smile were universal.
Peter had a full heart and was always looking for ways to help others, whether it was helping his neighbors clear snow from the driveway or a stranger load groceries into their car.
Peter was so loved and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his daughter, Galaxie Story of Hadley, MA; sister, Nancy Story of Newbury, MA; and brother, Joseph Story II of Newbury, MA.
