Nancy Jane Davenport-Edwards died peacefully -with her beloved dogs & humans- on Friday, January 15, 2021.
She was born on May 4, 1930 in Melrose, MA to James Otis Davenport & Isabelle Fleming Souter. An only child, she was adored by her parents and many, many cousins.
Nancy lived life on her own terms and could match wits with anyone. She was not afraid to speak up or defend the underdog.
She was a big personality with an infectious laugh and will be sorely missed by her friends and family.
Nancy was an artist, graduating from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, MA and she remained a supporter of all arts throughout her life. An empty canvas was one of her favorite things- filled with possibility, she’d say.
Later in life she earned her BA in English at Merrimack College.
Nancy was also a voracious reader and a lover of all animals. She spent her younger years in New York City and worked for many different airlines, becoming the 1st female sales representative in the industry. It enabled her to see the world and expand her love for all things & cultures. These were some of her favorite stories to tell. She was extremely intelligent, cultured and well spoken.
Nancy is survived by her three children; Charles Henry II & her daughter-in-law Kyungmin Youn of Danvers, Amanda Elizabeth Edwards of Rowley & James Otis Edwards of Boston. She is also survived by her 2 other 4 legged children, Fritz & Gilda as well as her beautiful parrot named Holly.
A Celebration of Life will be held when it is safe to do so.
