Peaceful 09

Mary Fronczek

September 6, 1915 ~ July 1, 2020 (age 104)

Anna Maria (Mary) Fronczek passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020  in Rowley, Massachusetts three months from her 105th birthday.  Mary was born in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, the daughter of Peter Bollea and Angelina (Regis) Bollea.  She had a brother, Joseph Bollea and a sister Anne (Bollea) Johnson who have predeceased her.  Mary grew up in the Cross Roads section of Dartmouth above the family grocery store/gas station in an area in which almost every home was occupied by a family relative.  She had a wonderful and rich childhood playing with her numerous cousins and attending family gatherings.

She attended Dartmouth High School while also working in the family store, delivering groceries out of the back of a Chevrolet truck to residents in Dartmouth and New Bedford during the Great Depression.  After graduation she worked at the W.T. Grant department store for 13 years as an outstanding salesperson primarily in the furniture and men’s clothing departments.  It is while at Grants that she met her future husband, Thaddeus (Ted) Fronczek.   They were married in 1946, soon after Ted was discharged from the army following WWII.

Mary and Ted moved to the Smith Mills area of Dartmouth where Ted built the family home.  They had three children, Peter, Jeffrey (deceased in 1995), and Pamela.  They enjoyed a long and loving marriage of 47 years until Ted’s passing in 1993.  It was a relationship that set the proper example for their children.  Mary spent her time raising the children and running the household.  Her skills at managing a limited budget were legendary within the family and allowed her children to attend college and begin their adult lives in a sound financial position.  With the children grown, she worked as a waitress in several New Bedford area restaurants.  She ended her working career at the Outlet Company department store where she again earned accolades as an outstanding salesperson.   Whatever job Mary held she did it with a passion and with an attitude that she would strive to be the best at what she was doing.

Mary leaves behind her son Peter and his wife Adele of Bethany Beach, Delaware and daughter Pamela Sanford and husband Ken of Rowley, Massachusetts.  She also leaves four grandchildren who she loved dearly Christopher, Keith, Lauren, and Jonathan and seven great grandchildren Emily, Christopher, Anna, Will, Julia, Charlotte, and one on the way.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis, the services will be private and for family.
