Marilyn Gwinn

Marilyn Gwinn passed away peacefully at Seasons of Danvers Memory Care Facility on December 2, 2022. The daughter of the late Esther and Lawrence Chase, she was born February 28, 1934. She was married for 63 years to the love of her life, Charles Gwinn, who preceded her in death on November 8, 2019. They met at a dance in Merrimac and married on June 5, 1956.

She lived in Rowley for 66 years and was active with the Rowley Council on Aging. Marilyn worked for many years as a medical secretary at Anna Jacques Hospital. She was instrumental in creating a business, Agawam Service Center, with husband Charles and son, Chris. She assisted with the bookkeeping for many years. Once her children were older, she worked at Lindenmeyer Monroe as an administrative assistant.

She was very proud of her heritage as a direct descendant of Aquila Chase and was active with the Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury. Marilyn enjoyed sewing, cross stitch, gardening, talking walks with her daughter and spending time with her cats. Above all, Marilyn loved her family and enjoyed attending all their sporting events from her son’s high school hockey games, granddaughter’s swim meets and grandson’s baseball games.

Her spirit will forever be treasured in the lives of her children: son Christopher Gwinn and wife Bernadette; daughter Maryjane Weltler and husband Kurt and grandchildren Nicholas Weltler, Megan Alberta, her husband Daniel Alberta. She leaves a dear cousin, Judy Riley, and several treasured nieces and nephews.

She is loved by all that had the pleasure of knowing her. Her influence will forever remain in the lives of her family and those she touched.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m., at F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley, MA, followed by a graveside service at Rowley Burial Ground.
