I went to NYC public school #6 from 1990-1992 and Ken Koga Moriuchi was my teacher in the 6th grade. He organized an extracurricular team called “the science squad”: a few 6th graders that would teach kindergardeners science through fun hands-on activities during their lunch period. Ken was the only person I think at all that noticed I didnt bring a lunch or go out to buy one. He didnt let me shy away from the topic either. I didnt have any money and he insisted against my shyness to buy me a lunch. He did this every day after. It was the most delicious sandwich ever and my favorite to this day. I wanted to look him up to say thank you and when I finally found his contact- he had passed away. I felt terrible that I was to late in my attempts to show my gratitude. To whoever was his family and friends- thank you for helping support such a great person who let one kid know that someone out there cared about me.

I'm shocked to here that my good friend and freshman roommate from UC Davis passed away. I tried for years to get a hold of him. So sad. We shared a lot of good times together, from playing the guitar, to diving into the swimming pool after our finals with full scuba gear on and letting him choke me out while we practiced judo together. He also took photos of me fighting at the martial arts tournament in San Francisco. We knew each other going back to high school in San Francisco. Once we knew we got into UC Davis, we both decided to room together.
He was always kind, very giving and reliable friend. I will truly miss his guitar playing, he loved Gordon Lightfoot. A good man has gone to heaven, happy travels my friend.

When I was a teenager I worked as a volunteer at the Exploratorium in San Francisco, CA. One of the best jobs I ever had. At that time I met you Ken when you were still in school and would come and help us. I will always remember our days of working together, and my trip with you to UC Davis. I just went on line today to follow up with you after all these years, and this is what I found. Larger than life hole that just got inside me. I will always miss you, remember you, but most willing look forward to seeing you on the other side. Take care my friend, until we meet up again!

Phil and I met Ken at UCD. When we graduated from college all three of us ended up in the New York City area, where we all struggled to find our place in the work world.

Ken was always fun and easy going. He loved learning about things and he was always happy to share his knowledge. His laugh was infectious. It always brought a smile to my face. I feel very fortunate to have known such a positive, generous fun loving person.

Ken has been a friend of Charlie's for over 40 years, since freshman year at UC Davis. He was one of the kindest and most thoughtful people we have ever known. We still listen to playlists he put together for us. For our wedding present, he flew out to California to certify us in scuba diving. We still scuba dive today and think of him every time we do. A few years later he flew out to introduce our children to scuba as well. Our children loved and adored him. He always had a smile on his face and such an infectious laugh. We are so very saddened by his loss.

Oh dear Ken. It is Dec 21, 2018 and just now I stumbled across the news of your death. I feel a terrible sense of loss and I am beyond shocked that you have left this world.
We spent 3 goofy years together on Cornelia Street. We shared all kinds of silly and deep things with each other. We helped each other through crises with kindness.
What a wonderful sense of humor you had! What an imagination!
I loved the way your nose crinkled when you laughed. It was adorable and endearing although I don't know if I kept it a secret.
And then there's Mr. Frye the parrot whom you bequeathed to me. He was a nut and he stayed with me for many years until I passed him off to my nephews. Then he was adopted by a family in PA. Maybe you and he are together in heaven. I'm so sorry you had an early end. Life is so unjust. I hope you're scuba diving in heaven. I hear they have great seas up there....
