John A. Savage, Jr., 77, of Glen Devin Street, Amesbury, MA, passed away on Thursday, April 19, 2018.

He was born on January 25, 1941 in Ipswich, MA, son of the late John A. Savage, Sr. and Marion (Elwell) Teel. Husband of Joan I. (Viel) Savage.

John was employed as a maintenance worker for 32 years at AT&T retiring in 1990. He had a love for the farm, boating, fishing and vacationing; his passion was for golf proudly represented by his shrine of the hole in one.

Besides his wife of 28 years, he is survived by 2 sons John A. Savage III and his wife Jennifer, Thomas E. Savage and his wife Susan; a daughter Gayle A. Bombard; and a step-son, Gregory A Drew. He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia, by brothers Carl and Charles Savage. He was the father to many foster children including Robert Merenda and Eleanora Wynne. John leaves a legacy for his fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are respectfully omitted and Funeral Service will be private. Contributions in John’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements entrusted to the F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home of Rowley.
