John F. Morrissey, 66, passed away on Thursday, July 27, 2023, after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was a 1975 graduate of Newton North High School. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force. Post his 8 year career in the service, he enrolled in a paramedic program spending the next 30 years working as a dedicated paramedic on the North Shore, retiring in 2016.
During his career as a para-medic he was a member of the Massachusetts Urban Search and Rescue Team, deploying to Ground Zero and Hurricane Katrina. He spent his retirement landscaping for multiple companies and tending to his immaculate yard, garden, and flowers.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah “Debi” Morrissey; beloved, Kimberly (Sarkis) Duhanyan; a beloved Papa to grandchildren, Brayden and Olivia Duhanyan; brothers, Kevin, Richard (Stephanie), Timothy (Laura) and David (Cassie), Morrissey; sisters, Francie “Frannie” Limanek, Marybeth (Mark) Sideris, and Nancy (Steve) Dipalma; aunt, Carol Cox; and many nieces and nephews.
Acknowledgements should be made to his brothers-in-law, Scott (Maria) Albinus, Hank (Maureen) Nikora, son, Kyle, along with the Duhanyan and Bouthiette Families who have wrapped their arms around both John and Debi this past year.
