G. Douglas Dowie, 84, of Wethersfield Street, Rowley, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, Burlington, MA.
Doug was born July 15, 1936 in Concord, New Hampshire, son of the late George B. Dowie and Lillian (Blakey) Dowie. Doug was raised and educated in Concord, New Hampshire and graduated from Concord High School in 1955. Following graduation, he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at a weather observation facility in Alaska. Following discharge, he went on to work as a freight agent for United Airlines at Logan Airport.
Doug will be remembered as a true craftsman and spent hours in his woodshop working on various projects; always eager to share his wealth of knowledge with anyone that was interested. Doug also spoke fondly of his time at the family camp on Lake Winnipesaukee where he pursued his love of sailing.
Doug is survived by his wife Carole L. (Marruzzi) Dowie; four sons, Douglas Dowie of Fremont NH, Peter Fisher of Newton NH, David Fisher and his wife Christine of Newton, NH, Sean Dowie of Rowley MA; two daughters Laura Radzim and her husband Mark of Ipswich, MA, Donna Beckman and her husband Harrison of Seabrook, NH; his sister, Linda DiZinno; nine grandchildren; a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the family has requested all services be private.
