Obituary

Carolyn L. Peabody, 91, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Myron F. Peabody Jr., with whom she shared 42 years of marriage. She was born in Beverly on December 19, 1931, to Lillian and Arthur Grimes.

Carolyn was a proud graduate of Danvers High School and worked as a staff accountant at Crowninshield Management for many years. She also enjoyed her time working at the Rowley Council on Aging.

She was a very spiritual woman and was active in the Maple Street Congregational Church of Danvers and the First Congregational Church of Rowley. Carolyn’s greatest joy was the time she spent with her loving family and dear friends. She enjoyed poetry, ceramics, knitting, volunteering, and her beloved cats.

She was a dear Mother, Nana and Grammy to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving son Wayne P. Marquis of Danvers and her stepson Myron F. Peabody III of Wareham. In addition to her husband Myron, she is survived by her children Debra L. Marquis of Boxford, Linda J. Marquis and her husband Tim Markham of Peabody, Scott A. Marquis of Exeter, NH and her daughter-in-law Nancy Marquis of Danvers; her grandchildren Jennifer Marquis of Winthrop, Kristen Martin and her husband Brian of Danvers, Kathryn Azevedo and her husband Ed of Topsfield, Ashley Gioia of Exeter, NH, Janelle Bruno of Gloucester, Danielle Lechner and her husband Nick of Belmont and Scott Marquis Jr. and his wife Taliah of Stafford, VA; her great grandchildren, Adam Gioia, Jake, Brynn and Drew Martin, Noemia and Jackson Azevedo, Kane and Nash Bruno, and Julian Marquis; her step-children Karen Kowalski and her husband Bob of Southhold NY, Phil Peabody and his wife Kathy of Hope Valley RI, Scott Peabody and his wife Cyd of Barrington, NH as well as many beloved step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. She also leaves many beloved nieces and nephews, including her namesake Carolyn Clements and her husband Jim of Kingston, NH, and her dear friend Ann Little of Salem. She was the sister of the late Norman, Arthur, Louis and Shirley Grimes, Elizabeth Leslie, Phyllis Parker and Audrey Leighton.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 24, at 11 a.m., at First Congregational Church, 175 Main St., Rowley. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church in Rowley, or Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem.
