Anita Lee (Chellis) Paleologos, a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023 following a battle with cancer, at the age of 68.
She was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, on August 29, 1954, to the late Waldo Ward Chellis, Jr. and Jean Margaret Allum.
Anita, more lovingly known as ‘Nitsie’, was an entrepreneur and worked in multiple different industries. Her last career was as a floral designer while working alongside her husband in their removal and clean-out business.
‘Nitsie’ cherished spending time with her family and friends, and for the last several years enjoyed vacationing to the Florida Keys in the winter months to escape the New England weather. ‘Nitsie’s’ creativity and sense of humor overflowed in all areas of her life. A gifted and extraordinarily talented gardener, she could grow roses out of beach sand! She was known for her love of elephants but was also truly a friend to every animal she encountered. ‘Nitsie’ loved to cook for her family and friends and was masterful at it.
Above all, ‘Nitsie’ was a champion for her family and was its bedrock for strength and wisdom. She loved unconditionally and instilled that core value in her children. She was a constant inspiration to her family and others as a selfless, strong, and compassionate woman, and had a unique talent for being simultaneously direct and empathic when others needed it. She was a role model for her children and grandchildren, and she taught them the importance of hard work, kindness, and love.
‘Nitsie’ will be deeply missed by her husband, Angelo, of more than 50 years, her two children, her 4 grandchildren, brother and sister in-law, multiple nieces & nephews, along with many relatives and friends.
‘Nitsie’ is survived by her husband, Angelo A. Paleologos, of Salisbury, MA; Son, Andrew A. Paleologos (Shannon) of Franklin, MA; Daughter, Shana A. Paleologos (Joshua A. Taylor) of Pepperell, MA; Brother, Skip Chellis (Lorain) of Pepperell, MA; Grandchildren, Logan Paleologos, Alec Paleologos, Nico Taylor, & Anisio Taylor
