Lea A. “Mama Bear” Leavitt, 69, of Rowley, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Ashley Scott Leavitt.
She was born on November 8, 1948 in Lynn and was the daughter of the late Richard E. Buckley, Sr. and Ruth E. (Broadstrom). She was a resident of Rowley for many years.
Lea was a longtime member of the Rowley Veteran’s Association and the American Legion Post #738 in Philadelphia many years ago. She was employed at the Crane Estate in Ipswich for ten years as the housekeeper until her retirement. She enjoyed trips with her family and husband to North Conway and spending time with her friends at the RVA.
Lea is survived by her four children, John Eisele of Las Vegas, NV, Lee Leavitt of Rowley, Alex Leavitt of Lynn and Michele Moon of Rowley; two granddaughters, Brianna and Shyann Moon both of Rowley; two brothers, Herbert W. Buckley of Rowley, Robert Tyler Nelson and his wife, Jan of Byfield and one brother-in-law, Eldridge Leavitt of Salisbury. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Richard Buckley, Jr. and Elizabeth Leavitt.
A Celebration of Life for Lea will be held at a later date, to be announced. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to the Great Lakes Caring Hospice, 250-R Merrimac Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
