Elizabeth L. (Buckley) Leavitt, 75, beloved wife of Eldridge L. Leavitt, passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side on Friday, July 7, 2017, after a long illness. Betty was born October 26, 1941 in Salem, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Richard J. Buckley, Sr. and Ruth E. (Brodstrom) Buckley.

She was raised in Lynn, MA and attended Lynn English High School. Her family moved to Rowley, MA when she was a teenager, where she later met and married her adoring husband, Eldridge L. Leavitt on October 2, 1965. The couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in October of 2015 with family and many long time friends. Betty lived a simple, happy life as a homemaker. She was an amazing wife and mother, who enjoyed cookouts, boating, swimming, and fishing with her husband and children, and playing bingo with friends several days a week. Later in life she enjoyed word search puzzles and was an avid Red Sox Fan, never missing a televised game. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her father, Richard J. Buckley, Sr., her mother, Ruth E. (Brodstrom) Buckley, and her brother, Richard J. Buckley, Jr. In addition to her husband Eldridge, she is survived by her brothers, Herbert William Buckley of Rowley, and Robert Tyler-Nelson and his wife Jan of Byfield; a sister, Lea (Buckley) Leavitt of Rowley; her children, Lori (Leavitt) Brasseur and her husband Dale of Salisbury, Pam (Leavitt) LaPrell and her husband James of Danville, NH; and son Jim Leavitt and his wife Tracy of Salisbury; grandchildren, Kevin Brasseur, his brother Keith Brasseur and wife Stephanie of Salisbury, Leah Elizabeth Harrington, who lovingly cared for her grandmother for the last five years of her life, and her brother Hayden Harrington of Danville, NH, Haylie (Leavitt) Savoy and her husband Stephen of Haverhill, and Jordan Elizabeth Leavitt of Salisbury; great-grandchildren, Addison, Jackson, and Axel Brasseur, and Brielle Savoy; and many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; as well as her newly discovered half brothers and sisters of Maine, and their families.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the F. S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley, MA, followed by a gathering at the family home in Salisbury. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society @ www.cancer.org or the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation @ www.netrf.org
