Eleanor Hughes, widow of Baptist pastor
Mrs. Eleanor M. Hughes, 89, widow of the late Rev. Bernard L. Hughes, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2019. Eleanor was born at Allagash, ME, July 10, 1930, oldest daughter of Charles and Flora (McBreairty) Henderson. After her marriage in 1951, she served alongside her husband in Baptist churches at Clinton, Falmouth, Georgetown, and East Longmeadow. She returned to Georgetown 20 years ago and resided at Trestle Way. Survivors include her sons Tim of Winchester, MA; Jim (Karen) of Gettysburg, PA; Mark of North Andover, MA; her daughter Becky (John Pappas) of Peabody, MA; grandson Nick (Nicole) of Merrimack, NH; granddaughters Meghan of Salem, MA and Mandy (Bryan Fontaine) of Hollis, NH; and seven great-grandchildren. She also leaves a sister Nancy of Maine; brothers Gerald, Bill, Bob, and Tom, all of Maine; and many nieces and nephews. Eleanor was predeceased by Bernard in 1989, as well as by her sister Iona and brothers Lumbert and George. Memorial contributions would be appreciated by your local hospice organization, to whom we owe a debt of gratitude for the care and comfort given to Eleanor.
