Carole Clark

Carole Clark, 75 died peacefully at Avita of Newburyport on November 2nd under the care of Compassus Hospice. 

Carole was born on July 28, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre, PA to the late Edward and Sara Pulaski.  She graduated from A. B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon, NY and attended Lasell College. She married Brian Clark in 1966 and had two children, Christopher and Aimee whom she raised in Manhattan. 

Carole was a sweet, kindhearted woman. Everything she did was out of love. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.  Carole was an avid reader, loved the movies and attending Broadway shows. She was a New Yorker inside and out and loved everything about the city. Her true passion was working with children. In her early years, she worked as a preschool teacher which she thoroughly enjoyed. She later had the pleasure of working as an assistant to Sir David Frost.  In 2002, she retired from her long-time work at Millimen and Roberson, an actuarial and consulting firm in NYC and moved to Newburyport to be close to her grandchildren. 

Carole’s greatest legacy was her dedication to giving back and helping others.  She began volunteering as a Wish Granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation helping to grant wishes to children with critical illnesses. In her retirement, she spent countless hours volunteering in the children’s room at the Newburyport Public Library and the Emma Andrews Library as well as the Newburyport Firehouse Center for the Arts.  She and her friends cherished their time volunteering as Plover Wardens at the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, protecting the breeding success of the piping plovers. She participated in many fundraisers and charity events run by Ovations, an organization that supports ovarian cancer research and awareness. Carole’s extraordinary one-month long trip to Africa with Cross Cultural Solutions teaching English to children in orphanages changed her life.  It was this incredible experience and her desire to continue to help those in need that connected her with the Greater Newburyport Bura Alliance. She became a very active member of GNBA, helping to foster the friendship, cultural understanding and mutual respect between the people of Greater Newburyport and Bura, Kenya. 

Carole will be missed for her sweet soul and chatty personality. She spent her life always wanting to help others. 

She is survived by one daughter, Aimee and her husband Erik Morland of Rowley Massachusetts; one son, Christopher Clark of Boulder, Colorado; one sister Kathryn and her husband Brian O’Toole; two granddaughters Haley and Emma Morland and her beloved kitty, Willie.

A Celebration of Life gathering and reception will be held on Sunday, November 10th at 2pm at the Ipswich Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of her life to the Greater Newburyport Bura Alliance - www.masskenya.org/ P.O. Box 1021 Newburyport, MA 01950.
