Barbara R. (Hatch) Prussman,76, of Orchard Street, Byfield, MA, died with family at her side on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at the Kaplan House in Danvers following a battle with cancer.
She was born on July 10, 1942 in Lynn, MA, daughter of the late Fairfax and Gertrude I. (Lindberg) Hatch. She graduated from the Perley High School in Georgetown and the Beverly Hospital School of Nursing.
Barbara was employed as a Registered Nurse for many years until her retirement from York Hospital in Maine. She also worked as a school nurse at the Governor’s Academy in Byfield and was beloved as ‘Doc’ during her years as camp nurse at Camp Leslie in Georgetown.
She was a founding member of Phoenix Rising Church of Haverhill and worshipped for many years at the First Congregational Church in Rowley.
She enjoyed painting, scrapbooking and most of all, chasing after the exploits of her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by three sons, Todd A. Prussman of Haverhill, MA, Erik C. Prussman of Rowley, MA, and Greg L. Prussman of Midlothian, VA; one brother, Frank E. Hatch of Maine; three grandchildren, Isabel, Kyla, and Sydney Prussman; one niece and one nephew.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the F. S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 11:00 a.m.
