BYFIELD: Arthur G. Allen, 63, of Byfield, passed away
unexpectedly at the Anna Jacques Hospital in
Newburyport on Monday, August 2, 2010. He was the
husband of Linda (Davis) Allen of Byfield.

Arthur was born in Boston, Nov. 7, 1946 son of the
late George W. and Mary L. (Ashook) Allen.

Arthur grew up in Boston. He graduated from the
Thompson Academy in 1964 and went on to graduate from
Boston University with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
On February 14, 1969 he married his life partner,
Linda (Davis) Allen.

Arthur was the President of Omni Security which he
and his wife founded in 1979 to help others be secure.

Arthur had many accomplishments including:
Commissioner for 9 years at M.A. C.; Chairman of Mass
Aeronautics where he was the chairman from 03 to 07;
Rex Trailer took Arthur for his first flight in 1967.
Arthur got his own license to fly over 30 years ago
and owned his own plane, always giving others the
thrill of taking the controls. Various charities
benefited from his donated trips. Arthur knew what
it was like to have nothing, so he always went
overboard to make sure kids had what he did not; he
helped many kids get their pilot's license and inspired them
to work for what they wanted.

Giving was top of Arthur's list of things to do.
Toys for Tots was a favorite. He gave generously to
B.U. and to the Women's Crisis Center. He often
played taps at funerals and on special occasions.
He was involved at every level of community service;
he drove Miss Byfield in the annual Byfield Days
Parade in his yellow MG. He was a supporter of local
causes even while being involved on a national level.

He was a member of the Ancient and Honorable
Artillery Co. of MA and a member of the Byfield
Protection Fire Co. #1 from 1974 on ; he was an EMT and EMT instructor.

He helped to organize the annual Firemen's Ball.

Arthur was a proud supporter of the Republican Party
and he ran for public office. He enjoyed making his
friends happy aboard the Miss Byfield  in the
Merrimac River, flying to his favorite breakfast
spot, or stuffing a child's mailbox with candy bars
. His favorite pastime was inventing characters and
telling elaborate stories entertaining friends and he
always said Never too much food on the table.

Arthur will be sadly missed by family, extended
family and all the many friends he made over his life.

In addition to his wife Linda, he is survived by two
daughters and sons-in-law: daughter Kimberly and her
husband Lt Col Anthony Lugo of Honolulu, HI and
