GEORGETOWN: Joanne Alicia Bernhardt, 72 of Georgetown, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, Wednesday, June 9, 2010 at Anna Jacques Hospital in Newburyport, MA.
Joan was born in San Francisco, CA July 25, 1937 of the late San Francisco City Planning Director, Mark T. Jorgensen and Alicia R. Jorgensen. She was a native Californian living in the Bay Area until she relocated with her husband to MA to be near her daughter and grandchildren at the age of 60.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Nicholas M. Bernhardt, her daughters, Maurine Alicia Turcotte and son-in-law, Jim, Deborah Ann Norris and son-in-law Rob, and her Son, Marc N. Bernhardt and daughter-in-law April. Her brother, Mark B. Jorgensen and wife, Arlene M. Jorgensen. She was pre-deceased by her son, Arthur David Northrup, who passed away suddenly June 25, 2009. Her wonderful grandsons, Dylan and Tyler Turcotte, and Ryan Norris will forever miss her.
Joan is remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, even amidst extreme hardship, her tenacity of spirit and her zest for life. These are the gifts that she has left us. She was a friend to all. Her presence here will be greatly missed as she shaped and forever changed the lives of those who knew her.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the F.S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent Street, Rowley. A period of visitation will be held Friday, June 18, from 6:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Main Street Cemetery, Rowley.
