ROWLEY: Elsa H. Emmons, 90, of Newburyport, formerly of Seabrook, Rowley and Ipswich, died Wednesday at the Brigham Manor in Newburyport.
Miss Emmons was born in Rowley, May 19, 1920, daughter of
the late William J. and Mabelle (Kneeland) Emmons. She graduated from Ipswich High School in 1938.
Elsa worked for Sylvania in Ipswich and also for Star Tronics in Georgetown, retiring in 1982. She was a
member AMVETS #201 of Ipswich, Past President of the Ladies Aux. Ipswich VFW Post 1093, Past
State President, Past District President and Past National Council Member # 2. She was a
member of the First Congregational Church of Rowley, a former Deaconess and former Supt. of the Sunday
School. Elsa was also a member of the Happy Seniors in Seabrook, NH.
She is survived by her god-daughter, Patricia Costa of Henniker, NH, a niece, Elma "Pat" Birner of Tampa, FL, and several cousins.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM in the F.S. Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 14 Independent
St., Rowley. Burial will be in Main Street Cemetery, Rowley. Calling hours will be Sunday 1-3 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post 1093, PO Box 281, Ipswich, MA 01938 or to the American
