Irma (Hughes) (Burleigh) Milton, in her 90th year, formerly of Seymour,TN, Rowley and Newburyport, passed away at the Lafayette Skilled Nursing Facility in Marblehead on Dec 2, 2015 with love surrounding her. She was the widow of William M. Milton of Newburyport, who passed away in 1991.

Irma was born December 7, 1925 in Newburyport to the late Albert S. Sr. and Maebelle (Griffin) Hughes.

Irma worked for many years at the former CBS Hytron in Newburyport as an assembler; she later worked for and retired from Towle Silversmith in Newburyport. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 307 in Newburyport, and was a former member of St. Paul’s Church in Newburyport. While living in Tennessee she was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Smoky Mtn. Sweethearts. Irma had a real talent for crocheting; she made many crocheted items as gifts for those she loved.

She is survived by her son, Osman L. Burleigh of Ventura, CA, daughter Betty and her husband Michael Cahill of Seymour, TN, daughter Henrietta “Gidget” and her husband David W. Roberts of Rowley and her son Henry A. Jr. and his wife Susan Burleigh of Seymour,TN, also her step-daughter, Marjorie and her husband Ray Downer of Newburyport. She leaves her siblings, brothers, Albert S. Jr. and his wife Rena Hughes of Millinocket, ME and brother Arthur Hughes of N.Haverhill, NH. She leaves 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, gr-gr-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by several brothers and her sister Priscilla Pelletier of CA.

We wish to thank All Care Hospice of Lynn for the gentle, loving care given to our mother and the staff at the Lafayette.

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 18, 2016  at 1:00 p.m., in the F.S. Roberts & Son Funeral Home of Rowley. Burial will follow in Belleville Cemetery, Newburyport. Donations may be made to All Care Hospice, 210 Market Sreet, Lynn, MA 01901 or to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, High Street, Newburyport, MA 01950.
