Glenn W. Meurer, Sr.

Glenn W. Meurer, Sr., 81, of Newbury Road, Rowley, passed away at home on Sunday morning, January 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Glenn was the husband of Jean C. (Spade) Meurer. He was born in Bellevue, Kentucky on April 26, 1934, to the late William G. and Laverna R. (Moermond) Meurer. 

Glenn was employed for 38 years as an engineer at General Electric. Upon retiring in 1992, he and Jean bought a motor coach and began touring the USA.  He was an avid and lifelong musician who formed and led his own big band during his school years, and was a founding member of the Triton Regional Band Boosters,c. 1973.  Glenn played his saxophone in town bands and with the Frustrated Maestros and the Yankee Doodle Dandies at the RV Jamborees they attended.  Glenn was also an avid woodworker and provided his family with a variety of furniture, such as cribs, easels, dressers, wooden trucks and pull-toys.  He was a private pilot and enjoyed flying for much of his adult life.

Beloved husband of Jean C. Meurer.  Devoted father of Glenn W. Meurer Jr. and his wife Barbara W Meurer of Westford, MA; Douglas R. Meurer and his wife Michele Demski Meurer of Rochester, MI, and his daughters Diana J. Holmquist of Mashpee, MA and Sandra L. Burns of Rowley, MA, and 11 adoring grandchildren. Glenn is predeceased by his son-in-law, Richard J. Holmquist, who passed suddenly on January 29th, 2016.  Contributions in memory of Glenn may be made to the Triton Music Parents Organization, TMPO c/o Triton Arts, Triton High School, 112 Elm Street, Byfield, MA, 01922.
