Ellen A. Monahan

Ellen A. (Keniston) Monahan, age 80, of Plantation Drive, Rowley, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016. She was the wife of Richard M. “Red” Monahan. Born on February 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Dorothy (Donahue) Keniston. Ellen was a graduate of Berwick Academy, South Berwick, ME and participated in nurse training at the former North Shore Baby’s Hospital. She was employed for many years as a clam shucker at Bill Smith, Kneeland and Savage Seafood. Ellen was also a matron at Triton Regional High School. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Richard, his wife Liz and their children Meghan and Kyle, Mark, his wife Debra and their children Amanda and Patrick, Kevin, his wife Palma and their children Craig and Justin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was the mother of the late Michael S. Monahan and grandmother of the late Ricky Monahan. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 6th at 11:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 175 Main Street, Rowley. Burial will take place in Main Street Cemetery, Rowley. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Rowley Food Bank, 147 Main Street, Rowley, MA 01969, in Ellen’s memory would be appreciated.
