Edwin S. Downs Sr.

Edwin Stacey Downs Sr, 63,of Centraila, IL and formally of Epping, NH, passed away on Thursday, July 28,2016 ending his battle with cancer. Edwin was born July 11, 1953 in Newburyport, MA to the late Lois (Wilton) Downs and Richard Downs Sr.  Edwin worked at The Bailey Corp., for about 30 years, where he was a paint room supervisor and a union representative, until the company closed and he was then transferred to the company's Illinois branch. He proudly served our Country, in the United States Army National Guard for 22 years and retired at the rank of an E7. He was on teams for playing darts, bowling, and golf. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys play, and would always cheer them on. He loved taking rides on his motorcycle and would try to make it to Bike week in Laconia every year. He also enjoyed going camping in the White Mountains throughout his children's childhood and was known for waking up early and making the family a big breakfast. He was a very funny person, the life of the party and was highly liked by many who knew him. He is survived by his son Edwin Downs, Jr. of Pflugerville, TX and two daughters, Angela Downs of Sanford, ME and Jamie Breen of Keene, NH. He also leaves six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
