Edward G. Williams, 92, a life long resident of Georgetown, passed away Friday morning, January 15, 2016 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill. He was the widower of Charlotte (MacDougall) Williams who passed in 2013.

Ed was born in Georgetown on November 15, 1923 to his late parents Ralph T. and Eda (Parratt) Williams.

He graduated from Perley High School in Georgetown class of 1941. Ed attended Haverhill Trade School, Beverly Electronic School and the F.B.I. School Police Training School.

Ed was the owner of Williams Oil Service in Georgetown for 43 years, before his retirement. He was a Police Officer in Georgetown for 35 years, on the Water Commission for 17 years and was the President and Chairman of the Georgetown Savings Bank. He was an avid boats man who enjoyed boating and being out on the water.

Ed was a Veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Army. He was a Technician 4 grade and served in the Headquarter Company Tank Destroyer Battalion.

He is survived by his children, son Gerald E. and his wife Mary Williams of Georgetown, daughters Lynne Cramer of Georgetown and Cynthia and her husband Paul Tinsley of East Bridgewater,MA; his sister Marion W. Roberts of Newburyport and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to Georgetown Rescue Team, C/O Georgetown Fire Dept., 1 Library Street, Georgetown, MA 01833.
